Malignant changes of Marjolin¡¯s ulcer arising from chronic burn scar are rare, and the majority of these are sguamous cell carcinomas and basal cell carcinoma.
Malignant fibrous histiocytoma is one of the sarcoma described firstly by Ozzello(1963). It has the characteristics of both histiocyte and fibrocyte, and develops frequently between 50-year-old and 70-year-old.
The reports of malignant fibrous histiocytoma arising from chronic burn scar have been very rare.
We present a case of malignant fibrous histiocytoma ariging from the chronic burn scar of a 49-year-old man who had suffered from the recurrent ulceration for 40 years.
The lesion was widely excised and covered by lateral gastrocnemius muscle transfer and split thickness skin graft.
The patient showed the distant metastasis to both lung and lymphnode on postoperative 3 months, and died on postoperative 5 months in spite of chemoth erapy.
